Winona County Sheriff: Arrest in Elba Shooting Incident
Elba, MN (KROC-AM News) - Charges are pending against a 64-year-old woman suspected in a shooting last night in a small Winona County community.
Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude says deputies responded around 10 p.m. to a report of a firearm-related incident in Elba. A 34-year-old Elba woman stated that she was pulling into a parking lot when her vehicle was fired upon multiple times. The sheriff says she was alone in the vehicle and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Earlier reports indicated that she was not shot but was apparently hit by broken glass or shrapnel from the gunfire.
A news release on the incident says investigators developed information that led to the arrest of Ava Leone Kock around 10 o’clock this morning. A search warrant executed at her home in Elba recovered the firearm and shell casings believed to be involved in the shooting.
Sheriff Ganrude says Kock and the victim are known to each other, but there are no known previous altercations or negative interactions between them.

According to the Winona County Jail website, Kock is being held on suspicion of second-degree assault and reckless discharge of a firearm. She is scheduled to be formally charged tomorrow morning.
