Minnetonka, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening in an alcohol-involved crash on the west side of the Twin Cities.

The State Patrol says there were two people on the motorcycle as it was entering westbound Highway 12 in Minnetonka and it struck a concrete curb. The collision, which was reported at 7:45 PM,  caused both of the riders to be thrown off the motorcycle.

The driver, identified as 58-year-old Garrett Dawson of Becker was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, 58-year-old Melissa Varner of Buffalo, was transported to North Memorial Hospital. The State Patrol described her injuries as non-life-threatening.

The preliminary State Patrol Report on the fatal incident states that alcohol was involved. It also indicates that neither of the motorcycle riders were wearing a helmet.
