Shooting at Rural Olmsted County Intersection Prompts Investigation
Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting reported at a rural intersection southeast of Rochester.
Captain Tim Parkin said the shooting was reported Saturday around 9:30 p.m. The caller reported seeing multiple flashes coming from the passenger side of another vehicle followed by multiple loud sounds.
Parkin said the caller fled the area at a high rate of speed before calling 911. She reported the shooting occurred at the intersection of Olmsted County Road 20 and 120.
Parkin said deputies who responded to the intersection reported finding shell casings and four bullet holes in a stop sign at the intersection. The initial investigation indicates the occupants of the suspect vehicle were targeting the stop sign and not the other motorist.
The caller’s vehicle was not struck by gunfire. She described the suspect vehicle as a blue minivan.
Parkin said investigators are looking for the vehicle and said the individuals responsible for the shooting could face criminal property damage charges.
