
Semi Truck Fire Slows Traffic on Hwy. 52 Near Pine Island
Pine Island, MN (KROC-AM News)- A commercial vehicle fire slowed motorists on Hwy. 52 in Goodhue County on Tuesday.

Traffic was reduced to a single lane while crews fought the fire. The Pine Island Fire Department led the fire fight.
Officials have also indicated they determined the cause of the vehicle fire.

Semi Truck Fire Slows Northbound Hwy. 52 Traffic in Pine Island Tuesday Afternoon
Pine Island Firefighters responded to the semi-truck fire in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 52 around 12:15 p.m. The vehicle caught on fire just north of the County Rd. 11 interchange in Pine Island.
Responding firefighters found flames between the cab and trailer. The truck driver had gotten out of the cab and deployed a fire extinguisher to prevent the blaze from spreading, officials say.
Firefighters put out the fire and confirmed that it did not breach the cab. A damage estimate is not available.
Officials suspect the fire was caused by a blown tire on the semi cab. No injuries were reported.
Crews had the scene cleared by 1 p.m., the Pine Island Fire Department said.
