That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Friday. The alleged fleeing incident occurred on Thursday.

Police made the traffic stop around 11:30 Thursday morning in the area of North Broadway Ave. and 7th St. The officer, who saw what the complaint describes as a small child in the vehicle, learned the driver had an active arrest warrant.

Wanted Rochester Man Accused of Fleeing Traffic Stop at High Speed With Child in Vehicle

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Daniel Lamont Burton, was ordered out of the vehicle and told he was under arrest. Burton responded by turning on the vehicle, shifting it into gear and accelerating away from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed, the charges say.

Burton was then seen running a red light on 7th St. Northwest and driving at a high rate of speed during a steady traffic flow. He also disobeyed a second officer’s attempt to pull him over, the complaint says.

The court document does not provide an estimated speed Burton was traveling at. Police went to Burton’s residence about an hour after the alleged fleeing incident and arrested him.
