That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday.
The alleged assault of the police officer occurred during an arrest connected to a malicious child punishment case on October 24 at a northwest Rochester apartment building.
40-year-old Jared Duwayne Fitting was already facing a felony count of fourth-degree assault on a police officer and a gross misdemeanor count of obstructing the legal process.
In a separate criminal complaint, he was charged with gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child and a misdemeanor domestic assault charge.
According to the court documents, Fitting is accused of striking an 8-year-old girl on the legs with a belt loop after he became upset at her for not going to bed. He then allegedly burned a police officer's face with a lit cigarette while he was being arrested.

Fitting posted bond to be released from jail on Oct. 28. On Oct. 30, Rochester police responded to the report of an upset child, who later claimed that Fitting had sexually assaulted her, the complaint says.
The child, who the court filing says is also the victim in the child punishment case, was in the care of a different person when she began hyperventilating after being told she would be taken back to the same household as Fitting.
The girl, who is under the age of 10, told police during an interview on Thursday that Fitting had sexually assaulted her since she was six years old when the two were alone at the same residence, the charges say.
She told investigators that Fitting threatened to beat her up if she told anyone about the alleged sexual assaults, according to the complaint.

Investigators learned the young girl was seen at Olmsted Medical Center on October 14 for injuries consistent with sexual assault, the court document says.
Fitting has been charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was arraigned on the new charges on Monday and is currently being held on $100,000 bail without conditions.
