The alleged burglary was reported at an apartment building in the 100 block of 8th St. Northeast. Responding officers found the suspect on the front steps of the building, Grayson says.
Police were told the suspect broke a window of one of the apartment units and kicked in the same unit’s door. The residents of the apartment know the suspect, according to the police report.
18-year-old Isaac Ambriz of Austin was identified as the suspect. Ambriz appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and resisted officers attempts to bring him into custody, Grayson says.
The young Austin man was eventually arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and second-degree burglary.
Grayson said he was brought to the Olmsted County Jail after being evaluated by a Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew. Ambriz’s first court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
