Plea Deal Covers 3 Olmsted County Child Sex Abuse Cases
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Hutchinson man went before a judge in Olmsted County Court today and admitted to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct as part of a plea agreement involving allegations of sexual abuse with multiple victims.
45-year-old Daniel Kenney was charged in the first case in the fall of 2021.
He was accused of engaging in sexual contact with a nonfamily member under the age of 13 at his home in Stewartville. He was also accused of frequently communicating with the victim through Facebook Messenger Kids.
The second set of charges against Kenny was filed in March of last year and involved the younger sister of the first victim. Court documents indicate the child told investigators she remembered being molested by Kenney beginning when she was seven years old.
The most recent charges against Kenney were filed just over a week ago. The complaint alleged he sexually abused a girl, beginning when she was under the age of 13 in November 2018, and that the abuse continued through August 2021.
His guilty pleas were tied to the first two cases, and under the terms of the plea deal, the most recent charges against him will be dismissed. Court documents indicate he faces a presumptive sentence of between 153 and 216 months in prison.
Kenney's plea deal does not cover a fourth sex abuse case in McLeod County where he is charged with sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl. He is currently scheduled to make a court appearance in that case on June 13.
