Nevis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating the death of a fisherman who apparently fell into a Minnesota lake.

Preliminary information regarding last week’s incident was released on Thursday night. It happened at a resort in northern Minnesota’s Hubbard County. 

A news release issued by the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a possible drowning shortly before 6 p.m. on May 30.

The call, which stated a man had fallen into the water, came from Starlight Bay Resort on 8th Crow Wing Lake, which is about 45 miles south of Bemidji.

Responding deputies found first responders providing aid to a man on the shore, the news release says. 

The victim’s son said he was fishing with his dad on a dock. The son reported going inside of their cabin then seeing his father facedown in the water when he got back outside.

The son, described as a 48-year-old man from Boston, rushed into the water and with the assistance of a bystander pulled his dad from the water and onto a beach, the news release says. 

Medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the fisherman dead. He has been identified as 75-year-old William Delmore of Bismarck, ND. 

The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the deadly incident.
