Montana Authorities Searching for Missing Hiker From Minnesota
Update: Montana Search and Rescue Crew Recovers Body of Missing Minnesota Hiker
Red Lodge, Montana (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in Montana continue to search for a missing Minnesota man.
A news release issued by the Carbon County Sheriff's Office in southern Montana says Dylan Honnell went missing on July 12th. It's believed he was fatally injured when he fell into some rapids while he was hiking and attempted to cross East Rosebud Creek.
The Sheriff's Office says rescuers organized by Red Lodge Fire Rescue believe the young man likely became trapped underwater near where he fell into the creek. Some items that apparently belonged to Honnell were earlier recovered about 500 yards downstream.
The Montana Army National Guard and the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office have been assisting in the search effort, along with many other agencies and volunteers.
The news release indicates Honnell recently completed his sophomore year at Montana State University. He graduated from Rogers High School on the northwest edge of the Twin Cities in 2022.
