Update: Officials say a young girl who was reported missing in Byron early this morning is safe.

An email sent to the Byron School District community indicated the child was last seen shortly after midnight this morning near Somerby Golf Club and appeared to be in distress.

Byron Superintendent Nate Walbruch in an email said authorities have not been able to confirm the location of the juvenile, but say they have determined she is safe and at home.

An email sent to the Byron School District community from Assistant to the Superintendent Anne Ludvigsen indicates the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Byron Fire Department, and Byron First Responders are involved in the situation.

She appeared to be in distress at 12:05 Thursday morning. “We are deeply concerned about her condition due to the adverse weather conditions,” the email says.

Girl Seen in Distress Thursday Morning Reported Missing in Byron

Ludvigsen is describing the missing girl as, “a white female with light-colored, long hair, a skinny build, and is wearing pajamas.” 

The child was last seen in the area of Ancaster DR. NE and Somerby Parkway NE, which is near Somerby Golf Club.

The email also asks Byron School District Families who have children ages 9-12 to see if they let a friend in through the window. 

The missing girl’s name has not been released. A photo of the child is not available. 

Anyone who finds the child is asked to call 911 or 507-328-6800.
