More Changes Coming as Mayo Clinic Continues Downtown Rochester Expansion
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- It’s been one year since Mayo Clinic officially announced plans to expand its campus in downtown Rochester.

The main fixture of the $5 billion project is the construction of new clinical and support buildings to the west of the Gonda building.
Earlier this year, Mayo leaders outlined a rough timeline for when notable changes will begin taking place. Demolition on the Ozmun ramp and the former Lourdes High School are set to occur this winter.
The Damon Parking Ramp is scheduled to close in the middle of next year. Last month, crews closed 4th Avenue Southwest from 1st Street to 2nd Street Southwest to accommodate underground utility work.
Charlton Building Entrance, Lane Closure Planned as Mayo Expansion Work Continues in Downtown Rochester, MN
On Monday Mayo leaders announced the launching of a construction website that details upcoming closures related to the project.
The latest construction-related change is set to take effect on Saturday Nov. 16. 3rd Ave. Southwest, which is a northbound one-way street through the Mayo Clinic campus, will be reduced to single lane from 1st St. Southwest to 1st St. Northwest for one day.
The closure means the vehicle drop-off and sidewalk entrance on the western side of the Charlton building will not be accessible.
Patients and visitors seeking the Charlton, Jacobson or Eisenberg buildings are being asked to use the entrance and dropoff at the Jacobson building, which is located at the intersection of 2nd St. Northwest and 2nd. Ave Northwest.
The lane closure on 3rd Ave. is scheduled to end on Sunday, Nov. 17.
