A letter sent to families of students at the high school indicates the message was reported to school administrators around 1 p.m. The letter says administrators, guidance counselors and law enforcement immediately initiated an investigation.

A photo of the wall in the bathroom shows the words “kill me” written in what appears to be a blood-like substance. The letter does not disclose what was used to write the message.

District officials say investigators reviewed hallway security camera footage and have interviewed students seen using the restroom before the report was taken. The response team also checked the building to ensure all students were accounted for, contacted families of students not in the building and canceled a severe weather drill to limit movement throughout the school as team members tried to identify as possible students in distress.

The investigative team received tips regarding students who may need help or may have knowledge of the situation after school let out Thursday. Those students and families were then contacted to ensure their safety, the letter says.
