The driver of the SUV, identified by Austin police as 32-year-old Olga Diaz-Monfil of Austin, was transported by ambulance to a hospital with an apparent arm injury.
A car was also involved in the crash. Police identified the driver of that vehicle as 79-year-old Robert Otterson of Austin.
The third motorist told police he was heading east on 4th Ave. when he saw the car driven by Otterson run a stop sign and collided with the driver’s side of the SUV, police say.
McKichan says Otterson was arrested on suspicion of DWI and brought to the Mower County Jail. He says charges are pending a review of the case by the Mower County Attorney’s Office.
The police report does not indicate that Otterson and the other driver were injured.
