Hunting Camp Heater Explosion Claims Life of Rochester Man
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An online fundraiser has been created to benefit the family of a Rochester man who died on Thanksgiving Day following a hunting-related accident in Wisconsin.
According to the GoFundMe page, Mark Ugland was at a deer camp when fumes from a heater ignited and he suffered burns over 85% of his body. The website indicates that he was able to call 911 for help and was first transported to a hospital in Duluth before he was transported to the burn unit at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
The online post says, after just over four days in the hospital, Ugland died from his injuries on November 28.
The GoFundMe page has a goal of $50,000 to help the family cover unpaid medical bills, utilities, debts, and other expenses stemming from the tragic incident.
A memorial service for Ugland is scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston and will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at the Rochester VFW.
