According to the charges, a Dodge County Deputy who responded to the crash noted that Miles had slurred and slow speech. That led to the administration of a preliminary test that measured his blood-alcohol-concentration at more than .12.

The court document says Miles told the deputy that the crash occurred when he lost control of the motorcycle after he felt his passenger losing her grip and beginning to fall off the bike. He stated that he responded by turning to reach for a woman and ended up grabbing the handbrake, which caused the motorcycle to flip onto its side.

He also stated that he had another drink at a bar after returning to Hayfield and that later, he and the victim finished off "two 12-packs of 12 ounce Twisted Teas equally."

Miles' next court appearance is scheduled to be held in October.
