Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man with multiple convictions for DWI and driving after revocation or cancellation has pleaded guilty to charges connected to an injury crash at one of the busiest intersections in Rochester.

Passenger in Second will Vehicle Transported to Hospital

According to court documents, 39-year-old Givonne Royell Jones was arrested last December after he was involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 14 and South Broadway. Jones was driving a car when he rear-ended a small SUV that was stopped at a red light. The crash sent a passenger in the SUV to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Court Records Detail Signs of Impairment After Collision

The criminal complaint says Jones fell to the ground after exiting his vehicle and that one of the responding officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The officer also noted that Jones had slurred speech and showed other signs of impairment.

Test Measured Blood-Alcohol-Concentration at More Than 3 Times Legal Limit

The court document says Jones refused to submit to a preliminary breath test and would not undergo field sobriety testing following the crash. Rochester police then obtained a search warrant for a blood sample, and testing showed that his blood alcohol concentration was more than 0.25.
