First-Person Video Emerges in Minneapolis ICE Shooting
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A new video has surfaced that depicts the events immediately before, during and after the fatal shooting by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis this week.
Twin Cities-based Alpha News reports that it has obtained a cellphone video recorded by the ICE agent who opened fire and fatally wounded 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good on Wednesday morning. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has stated that the agent discharged his weapon in self-defense as Good allegedly drove her SUV toward him after using the vehicle to block several law enforcement vehicles on a street in South Minneapolis.
Minnesota Officials Dispute Federal Narrative
The federal government’s description of the deadly incident has been criticized by Minnesota officials, including Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. They have also objected to a decision by the U.S. Attorney’s Office to deny the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension access to evidence compiled during the investigation of the shooting, which is being led by the FBI without state or local involvement.

First-Person Perspective

Alpha News reports that the video it obtained represents “the first-person perspective of the ICE agent who was at the center of the incident.”

The video begins with a view of the passenger side of the SUV driven by Good as the person recording walks around the front of the vehicle to the driver’s side, where Good is seen smiling and asking to see the ICE agent’s face. The video then shows the rear of the vehicle and another woman holding a cellphone and recording while speaking with the agent as he makes another circuit around the SUV.
The video then shows the woman attempting to climb into the passenger side of the vehicle as the ICE agent walks toward the front of the SUV and another officer orders Good to exit the vehicle. Seconds later, the SUV is seen moving toward the ICE agent as the camera points upward and the sound of gunshots is heard.

The recording then shows the SUV accelerating down the street, followed by the sound of a collision. A voice is also captured using an obscenity to apparently refer to Good before the video ends.
