Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- A second person has been sent to prison for their role in a deadly drive-by shooting in southeastern Minnesota.

Three people have been convicted in the homicide case. The fatal shooting occurred in Austin in June of 2023. 

Two men and a woman were hit by gunfire that came from an SUV while they were traveling in a different vehicle, which crashed into a house after being shot at.

The man driving the victim vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Gumdel Gilo, was pronounced dead at the scene while the other man and woman were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

Investigators identified Chan Obang Oman, Manamany Abella and Jenup Chop as the occupants of the vehicle that was the source of gunfire

In April, Abella entered a plea agreement that called for him to admit to a charge of aiding an offender-accomplice after the fact for his involvement in the crime. 

In exchange, the prosecution dropped two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, and a drive-by shooting charge.

On Thursday Abella was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The 25-year-old man was given credit for 782 days already spent behind bars.  

Abella is already in prison, serving a 5 year prison sentence for a previous conviction for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm stemming from a shooting in Austin in 2019. 

Last month, a Mower County Jury convicted Oman of second-degree murder and on two counts of attempted murder. He is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

Court records indicate Chop pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder and was sentenced in January to more than 37 years in prison.
