It seems that the Twin Cities are having a staffing issue with meteorologists. Another TV meteorologist has announced their departure from the Twin Cities, with their last on-air shift coming this weekend. This is the second announced departure in as many months for Twin Cities media, and it's this stations 2nd departure in as many years.

KSTP-TV Losing Serwe This Weekend

According to a social media post by KSTP-TV meteorologist Matt Serwe, his last day on Twin Cities television will be this weekend before he heads to Omaha, Nebraska, to be the Chief Meteorologist at Nebraska TV station News 6 WOWT.

Serwe has been in the Twin Cities since October 2021, making it 4 and a half years with KSTP.

This is the second meteorologist from KSTP to leave in the last two years. Wren Clair had her last day at KSTP in February of 2025 and then was with KARE 11 for a portion of time. Clair was only with KARE a short amount of time before leaving, with her last time on KARE being in September of 2025.

2nd Announced Departure For Twin Cities Meteorologists

It was announced earlier this year that KARE 11's Belinda Jensen will be hanging it up in May and retiring from the backyard. Belinda has announced that her last day at KARE will be on May 2nd.

Are The Twin Cities Not A Big Weather Market?

Growing up, I remember just how amazing the market was for meteorologists, such as Paul Douglas, who comes to mind. Ken Barlow is still in the Twin Cities with KSTP, as is Fox 9's Ian Leonard, but it seems lately it's been a purge of talent going to other markets. What gives?
