Marriage proposals can be powerful experiences. You've probably seen all types of proposals, surprise ones, romantic ones, and some that are pretty casual. One recent proposal must have ended wrong in Northern Minnesota on the shores of Lake Superior because a mess was left behind.

Lake Superior Proposal Goes Wrong?

A recent marriage proposal on the shore of Lake Superior must have gone wrong, because why else would someone leave behind such a mess!

To whoever just proposed at Black Beach… I hope she said no
Nothing says “forever” quite like covering Black Beach in hundreds of fake rose petals and then leaving them there for everyone else to clean up.
This morning, my clients and I showed up for our sunrise session and found this mess scattered across the beach. Not a few petals that accidentally blew away. Hundreds of them. Clearly left behind after a proposal or elopement.
And since apparently cleaning up after themselves was too much work, I’m currently picking them all up.
Black Beach is one of the North Shore’s most unique and visited destinations. Thousands of people come here every year to enjoy it. The locals who live here shouldn’t have to spend their time cleaning up after people who show up, use the place as a backdrop, and then leave their garbage behind when they’re done.
The North Shore isn’t your personal venue. If you bring it in, take it out. It’s really not a difficult concept.
If this was you, do better.
And if anyone recognizes a recent proposal or elopement at Black Beach involving fake rose petals, I’d love to know who thought leaving hundreds of plastic petals behind was acceptable.
Romantic gestures are great. Treating a public beach like your personal dumpster isn’t.
Be a better human.

Hundreds of fake rose petals were left behind on Black Beach last week, and a local photographer, who was arriving for some shots of the sunrise, ended up finding the huge mess and was the one who had to clean it up.

North Shore Isn't Someone's Personal Wedding Venue

The photographer, Ethereal Visuals, makes some good points in their post about the mess. As we get into prime road trip season, remember to leave places cleaner than you found them. More importantly, if you make a mess, clean it up.

Tell Us You're From Minnesota (Without Saying You're From Minnesota)

We asked you to tell us you were from Minnesota, without actually saying you were from Minnesota. The results were very funny, and very Minnesotan -- ranging from comments about the weather and sports, to food and mosquitoes.
