Sheriff's Offices Across Minnesota Warn About SNAP Scam

The Pine County Sheriff's Office, for example, took to social media to warn locals about this scam on Tuesday (October 28th). According to their post, SNAP recipients are receiving text messages in light of the government shutdown.

The text seems legitimate at first, saying that the recipient is receiving $1,000 bucks in 'food debit emergency relief' as long as they claim it. The post also says that all Minnesotans are eligible.

As always, be extra cautious when you receive a text, especially if it seems too good to be true. Never give out any banking or personal information via text or online, and do not click any links via email or text.

The Kanabec County Sheriff's Office also shared details about the scam. Because it's been reported in more than one spot in the state, it's likely to pop up just about everywhere. Share this with your family and friends.
