In my opinion, romantic comedies are the elite type of movies, second only to horror movies. Who doesn't love a good sappy movie where two people fall in love and end up happily ever after? Rom coms never get old.

In honor of Valentine's Day this week, a new study has revealed the romantic movies that Minnesotans love the most. There are of course classic romance films and then the newer ones and this study took all into consideration.

This study was done by PR Hub, who reveal that in 2023, there was an average of three new romantic comedies hitting the silver screen every single month. As a rom-com lover, this is great news.

To get to the bottom of each state's favorite romantic comedies, they looked at the top thirty rom-coms of all time and then looked into data to find out the top five for each state. This is the kind of study I can get behind.

So What Are Minnesota's Top Five Favorite Rom-Coms?

Here you have it! Our top five favorite romantic comedies are as follows:

  1. When Harry Met Sally
  2. Pretty Woman
  3. Bridget Jones's Diary
  4. The Princess Bride
  5. Your Place Or Mine

I guess we really love the classics! Number five is a recent romantic comedy that came out on Netflix recently starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. While my list would be a lot different, you can't argue with the classics!

What About Wisconsin?

It seems Wisconsin and Minnesota aren't too different after all! We basically had the same five between the two, with Wisconsin's list as follows:

  1. When Harry Met Sally
  2. Pretty Woman
  3. The Princess Bride
  4. Your Place Or Mine
  5. Bridget Jones's Diary
Here's another list full of classics and that random Netflix romantic comedy thrown in! Other popular romantic comedies that were popular across the country include Clueless and La La Land.

All I know is I hope we up the average amount of rom-coms coming out each month in 2024 to at least four. The more, the merrier!
