We will take the wins where we can get them! A new study has ranked Minnesota among the best of the best for being energy-efficient.

WalletHub released a new study on Tuesday (October 15th) ranking the states from most to least energy-efficient.

Minnesota did great, coming in as the eighth most energy-efficient state in the country. That is not too shabby if you ask me!

To make this list, WalletHub analysts looked at total residential energy consumption per capita, how many miles residents drive each year, how much gas is used, among a few other factors.

Wisconsin did pretty well here too, coming in at number fifteen. That means, in summary, that while there is room for improvement, we are pretty energy-efficient in our neck of the woods.

The Most + Least Energy-Efficient States

Who came out on top here? That would be Washington coming in first place, followed by New York and California. I can't lie, seeing the second and third place stats surprised me quite a bit!

As for the least energy-efficient states, that would be Alabama and South Carolina. It should be noted that two states were not factored into the list: Alaska and Hawaii.

While we did well on this study in Minnesota and Wisconsin, there is always room for improvement! Here's to hoping we do just as well in 2025.
