Minnesota Named Sixth Most Rodent-Infested State In U.S.
Even thinking about this sends chills down my spine! What can I say? I am just not a fan of rodents. Ha!
Some people love rodents and even have them as pets. Others only encounter them in their garage or their attic. I hope never to encounter them in my home!

If you're reading this in Minnesota, you have a pretty good chance of seeing one. Unfortunately, it looks like Minnesota is pretty rat-infested, especially compared to other states.
A new study just dropped ranking the most rat-infested states and Minnesota placed pretty darn high on the list. Brace yourself.
How Did This Study Come Up With The Most Rodented-Infested States?
This study was put together by property buying experts at Eden Emerald Buyers Agent, looking at state and county statistics using data from the US Census Bureau's 'Small Area Rodent Signs' from January of 2024. In this instance, a rodent is mice or rats.
Minnesota Cracks Top Ten On Most Rodent-Infested States For 2025
Yikes! Minnesota placed sixth on the list of the most rodent-infested states for this year. Let this sink in: there is about 210 rodents per every 1,000 homes in the state. This is not something I wanted to hear.

This breaks down to about fourteen percent of houses in the state, which is a lot when you think about it. As for the most rat-infested county in the state, that would be Red Lake County, with a whopping 611 homes out of 1,000 showing signs of rats or mice.
I'm not sure why this surprised me but those that put together this study say that colder climates with rural neighborhoods had more rodents than others in a pretty significant way. This is a no from me for sure.

As for the most rat infested state? That would be Pennsylvania, followed by North and South Dakota. Wisconsin also placed in the top ten. I hope we are much further down the list next year!
