Forget Actors: This Local Project Is Casting Cars

I don't think I have ever heard of something like this before! You already know that there has been a huge uptick in movies filmed in our neck of the woods.

Over the past few years, we've seen everything from a few holiday rom-coms filmed in Duluth to thrillers along the North Shore and just about everything in between. The film productions just keep coming!

In fact, it has become a common occurrence for casting calls to be put out for locals to take part, whether that be in an extra capacity or even in a major role. Now, there's another casting call that was just put out in our neck of the woods.

However, this isn't for actors - it's for cars! You read that right: a production filming locally is looking for cars to be featured in scenes. If you don't want to be an actor, at least you can have a small part in a project.

Picture Cars Needed For New Project Filming In The Area

The Upper Midwest Film Office put out a casting call, asking for picture cars. In case you didn't know, a picture car is any vehicle used for a movie, television show, music video or commercial.

They are currently looking for four different types of vehicles and what they are looking for in these models is very specific. If you can contribute, you are asked to contact the picture car coordinator.

The types of vehicles needed? A 2020s era sedan that is not black or red, and that is on the newer side and could pass as a 2027 vehicle! A 1980s era sedan is also needed, preferably model years in the late 70s and mid 80s. It doesn't have to be new but shouldn't look super old.

They are also looking for a late 90s or mid-2000s era SUV and an early to mid-2000s era pickup truck or SUV. I wish my car could be part of a movie so now that I know this might be an option, I will keep my eyes peeled for the next picture car casting call. Ha!

It is not known right now what project this is for but I am definitely super excited to find out! There have been some great movies filmed in our region and the list keeps growing. We will probably find out soon!
