The Duluth Amory has been sitting vacant for quite some time. The building was nearly demolished 20 years ago before it was saved by a group of volunteers who wanted to preserve the historic building.

Dignitaries, speakers, musicians, politicians, and other notable historical figures have visited the Armory. According to the Duluth Armory historians, Bob Dylan decided he wanted to pursue a career in music after seeing Buddy Holly perform at the Winter Dance Party in 1956. (He died just days later in the plane crash.)

I met with Michelle Miller, Co-Executive Director of the Armory for a tour. She shared the vision and plans that are already starting to take form. Currently, they are working on lead paint removal.

HVAC bids have already been placed and work is beginning to bring this historic building back to life. Check out the pictures below for descriptions of what's to come to the Duluth Armory.

Construction Underway To Bring Duluth Armory To Life

A major 58 million dollar project has begun to bring Duluth's historic Armory back to life. The building will be used for events, weddings, and parties. There are plans for London Road retail space and helping small upstart businesses.
