Helmet Safety Alert Affects Minnesota Riders And Their Families
Motorcyclists and their passengers are not required to wear helmets on the roadways around Minnesota, and many of them don’t. But when it comes to riding off-road, it is suggested that everyone have a helmet they can wear that fits them so it will stand the best chance of doing what it was designed to do, offer safety and limit or eliminate injury or worse.
Especially when kids and younger folks are involved, having all the suggested safety equipment is a must.

There is one helmet manufacture that has recalled over two hundred thousand helmets for adults and kids. “509” brand helmets and “509” helmets for Polaris were recalled late last week because the helmet is said not to provide adequate protection.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission reported the recall after the helmet of a rider came off and resulted in a concussion for the kid who had been wearing it.
If you or your child has one of the 509 or 509 for Polaris helmets, you are urged to not let them use that anymore until you can take the suggested action.
The helmets under the recall are the for the “509” brand are:
The Tactical 2.0 and 3.0 helmets
The small and medium “509” for Polaris including the Tactical 2.0 helmets, and the same brand with Fidlock
Altitude, Delta, Delta V, Mach III, Mach IV, Mach V models
Owners of these helmets should contact “509” or Polaris for specific instructions on what to do with this protective helmet. Some of these helmets can be repaired to bring them into proper standing for the consumers to continue to use them.
Others will be able to get their helmet replaced or receive a refund.
