Emergency Landing Snarls Traffic on Minnesota Freeway
The State Patrol says a small single engine plane had to land in the northbound lanes. The emergency landing occurred around 1 p.m. near the Mahtowa exit, which is about 30 miles southwest of Duluth.
The state crash report says the aircraft made a successful landing on the freeway and came to rest in a ditch along the road. No injuries were reported.
The aircraft suffered minor to no damage and was loaded onto a flatbed truck. The emergency landing occurred as several motorists were making their way to Duluth for the Grandma's Marathon and caused a traffic backup that stretched for several miles.
