Dover, MN Kitchen Fire Believed to Be Intentionally Set
Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said deputies originally responded to the residence in the 100 block of South St. West on an animal complaint around 10:15 a.m. He said deputies encountered a 27-year-old man who appeared to be intoxicated at the scene.
Parkin says the man went into the house while deputies were on scene. The home’s front door then opened and deputies reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the home’s kitchen area when they went to check on the man.
Parkin said a deputy then entered the home and walked out with the man, who was then taken by Eyota Ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital to be evaluated for possible smoke inhalation. The Dover Fire Department responded to put out the kitchen fire and was able to contain the damage to the kitchen area of the home.
A damage estimate for the fire is not yet available. Parkin said Wednesday morning the fire investigation is ongoing, however early findings indicate the fire was set on purpose. The man’s name has not been released.
