The first time I tried this famous hot chicken spot I was visiting family in Oklahoma City, and I’ll admit, I might have overestimated my spice tolerance. I went for the “Extra Hot” level, and while my mouth was on fire, the flavor was so good I couldn’t put it down. Knowing Rochester is getting its own location, I’m already planning my next order.

I received an exciting email today from a representative of Dave's Hot Chicken, sharing the news that they’ve officially secured a location for their newest restaurant in Rochester, and even have a target opening time frame!  Keep reading to find out when and where!

From Hollywood Parking Lot to Minnesota Hot Spot

Dave’s Hot Chicken has an origin story hotter than their reaper-level spice. It all started with three friends, a $900 budget, and a dream to blow your mind with spicy chicken.

In 2017, they set up shop with folding tables and a fryer in an East Hollywood parking lot. Thanks to Instagram hype and glowing reviews, lines started wrapping around the block, and the rest is hot chicken history.

Fast-forward to today and former NBA star and co-owner Kris Humphries is bringing the brand to Minnesota in a big way. With locations already thriving in Apple Valley, St. Paul, Minnetonka, and Coon Rapids, Rochester is next on the roadmap as the Humphries family eyes a total of 18 Minnesota locations (St. Cloud, you’re up soon too!).

What Rochester Can Expect From Dave's Hot Chicken

If you've never been to a Dave's Hot Chicken, the menu focuses on spicy chicken tenders and sliders, paired with sides like fries, kale slaw, and mac and cheese. You can choose from a range of spice levels, from mild to reaper if you really want to feel the burn.

Where Will the New Dave's Hot Chicken Be Located in Rochester?

The new Dave's Hot Chicken location will be at 1620 Broadway Ave S. in the Shoppes on Broadway shopping center, right next to Shopko Optical. While construction and planning are still underway, the restaurant is aiming for an opening in Q2 of 2025
