Arrest Warrant Issued for Minnesota Murder Suspect
Detroit Lakes, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in northwest Minnesota have issued an arrest warrant for a man suspected of committing a murder.
A news release from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of someone being shot in a vehicle shortly before 6:40 p.m. Sunday in the Village of Pine Point, which is about 28 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes. Upon arrival, authorities found a man dead at the scene and were told a gray Pontiac G6 with a White Earth license plate reading 22079 was seen leaving the scene before law enforcement arrived.
An update issued Tuesday says authorities issued an arrest warrant for 40-year-old Michael Dwayne Croud from Ogema. The warrant charges him with second-degree murder with intent.
The updated news release identifies the suspected murder victim as 35-year-old David Wayne Hanks Jr. of Park Rapids. Court records indicate Croud has a criminal history that includes a second-degree assault conviction in 2018 and first-degree burglary in 2013.
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about Croud’s whereabouts or about what happened on the night of the alleged murder to come forward. Authorities also reminded the public that anyone who helps Croud evade law enforcement could also face charges.
